PLC's
As a district, we are pushing PLC's, for a purpose. It builds peer relationships that thrive on each other's knowledge and helps us direct our instruction to best serve our students. For me, my best learning is not in a textbook but how many people and resources I can turn to for support and sponging up their brain.
Don't you think our students approach it the same way? I watch my teenage girls study and yes, they have the textbook, but there's the IPad, lap top, and the most valuable tool, their cell phone, where they group text discussions on a problem (well, that's what happens about 10% of the time between gossips and the fabulous concerts they go to these days).
My learning during the same age was straight out of a textbook but now as an adult and in a different generation, I have the world at my fingertips, by the touch of technology I can instantly reach my professional learning network.
So reach out and touch learning. Happy "1st six weeks completed" week!
